His cake design challenge had been turned down by several other cake makers who deemed the project too difficult. Rachel embraced the challenge and at short notice produced a 3ft wide and 5ft tall centrepiece which featured various facades of the Hayward and its Southbank setting. A small exhibition of Rachel's cake sculptures will be on display at Sotheby's Kiddell Gallery, 34-35 New Bond Street. The focal point of the show will be a large cake triptych which Rachel produced as a large sculpture entry for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. The entry was sadly rejected by the Academy, but top art curator Janice Blackburn was impressed by this ambitious work. Janice had taken a keen interest in Rachel's unusual craft work earlier in the year and was inspired to facilitate this display at Sotheby's. Rachel has been very busy producing new pieces of work to display alongside her triptych, these include two gay wedding cakes.

This show is now over. It was a huge success and very warmly received by a wide audience and the press. Rachel would like to say a big thank you to Sotheby's and everyone who worked on the show making it such a wonderful success. She would also like to thank everyone who took time out to attend.
